Missed doge? Get Floki! When a meme assault the Transport of London

If you live in London, probably you have already seen the ad “ Missed doge ? Get Floki ! ”. But why this means exactly? Why the Transports of London are submerged with this advertising?

In the beginner that was funny, but now, everywhere we can find Floki joking advertising in all TFL (Transport for London). This could be funny, except for the fact that we can find this advertising on every bus and underground station.

Nevertheless, the Floki is not the only cryptocurrency that has scaled advertising in TFL. The London Commuters were facing with Crypto App “ Luno” until the UK’s advertising regulator Asa (Advertising Standards Agency) decided to order a fine. With the slogan "If you're seeing Bitcoin on the Underground, it's time to buy". The ASA concluded that this ad doesn’t respect the consumer and is "misleading" because “ complex, volatile, and could expose investors to losses".

The ads must not appear again in the form complained about. We told Luno Money Ltd to ensure that their future marketing communications made sufficiently clear that the value of investments in Bitcoin (…) and that they did not irresponsibly take advantage of consumers’ lack of experience or credulity by implying that Bitcoin investment was straightforward or accessible.

Floki have tried to change his strategy. Social media is the best marketing way, we can see with the influencers as Kardashian (definitely not one of our best references) and her business, thanks to her marketing digital. And Floki get it! Before making mass advertising in TFL, they have got some users on Twitter, and especially, the billionaire Elon Musk.

After being the favourite meme and cryptocurrency for Musk, the company decided to make an « aggressive marketing campaign» in every bus and underground in London, to catch the Londoner attention.

"To keep the momentum moving, Floki Inu is assaulting the market with very targeted and aggressive marketing campaigns", said Floki on their website.

After Doge, Floki became the new orange… meme

In the beginner that was fun (2). It was thanks to Elon Musk that « meme-cryptocurrency » have received notoriety. With a tweet, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX created a trend on Twitter with this new cryptocurrency.

The first one was the Dogecoin that exists since 2013 and was created by a meme too, the "Doge",  a meme representing a Shiba Inu dog. Him his Twitter profile, Elon posted a picture of a dog using the word "dogue" and the description "Vogue magazine". With this post, Dogecoin becomes one of the most trends used on Twitter, and have taken a place in the finance world.

"Dogecoin is the people’s crypto", said Elon.

And Floki?

Then, Elon Musk decided to support the Floki cryptocurrency. On Floki’s website the first page introduces to customers the link with the 'Muskland':

Floki Inu (trading under the ticker FLOKI) is a movement token which was inspired by an Elon Musk tweet in which he said his Shiba Inu would be named Floki.

OK, but what is Cryptocurrency?

As with the other currencies, a cryptocurrency is a type of money entirely digital. The most important difference with the other currencies is any government use cryptocurrency officially.

Some traders experts think that cryptocurrency is: volatile, unregulated and they are susceptible to error and hacking.

Forbes has published in 2018 the " Top 10 Risks Of Bitcoin Investing (And How To Avoid Them) " to show the risk of this type of operation. Today, the distrust continues despite some ads campaigns like this one by Floki.  

According to FT, ASA will examine the ads Floki to be sure that will not use misleading advertising.
